Against the education price, this is a $110 savings. I thought I read somewhere they may be increasing the GPU core count for M2.Īlso, suggest not comparing these to the standard retail price, always compare to the education discount price (since effectively this option is open to everyone). Not too sure, since it's tuned differently in the Pro's, so may have to wait to see on that front. This is still a fantastic laptop and in no way feels "outdated".Īnd looking at the M2 upgrade we saw in the Air series, you could possibly argue that the jump from M1 to M2 may not be as dramatic as the jump from Intel to M1. Having said that, these CPU's were already such a multi-generational leap, that you could argue even this M1Pro is still phenomenal and not only competitive with Intel and AMD, but still superior in some ways, especially in terms of performance-per-watt and battery life - particularly against Intel, although AMD is more competitive. Rumour is no changes to the chassis at all, simply an internal CPU swap. You may want to wait if you care about that. FYI strong expectations that Apple will be releasing the updated M2Pro CPU this month at some point, for the 14" and 16" Macbooks.
